Leave It at the Cross — Where It Belongs

By ·

There are days when the past comes knocking again. You’re doing fine — even good. You’re healing. You’re building. You’re walking with Jesus. And then suddenly, bam — an old memory, a past mistake, a familiar ache shows up and says: “Remember what you did?” “Remember who you used to be?” “You’re not really free.” And if you’re not grounded in what Jesus already did for you, it’s so easy to believe those lies. It’s easy to think that the past still has a claim on your life — that maybe you’re not as new as you thought you were. That maybe you’re still the broken, hurting person you used to be. Let me tell you something I’ve learned through experience: If you don’t truly believe that Jesus saved you — completely and fully — those old wounds can own you. They’ll drag you back into shame. And that’s exactly what the enemy wants. Satan isn’t creative. He uses the same strategy over and over: Guilt. Shame. Isolation. Doubt. Repeat. And if he can get you to pick back up what Jesus already took, he wins. That’s why I’m begging you — Don’t pick up that guilt. Don’t carry that shame. Leave it at the Cross. That’s where it belongs. When Jesus died, He didn’t sort of pay for your sins. He didn’t partially redeem you. He didn’t say, “I’ll cover this one, but not that one.” He said IT. IS. FINISHED. All of it — your past sins, your failures, your shame, your trauma — was nailed to the cross with Him. And when He rose, it stayed buried. The reason the enemy keeps coming at you with it is because he knows how powerful you’d be if you actually walked in freedom. Let me ask you this: If Jesus went to the cross, bled, suffered, and died — for you — how could He not love you? He knew exactly what you’d do. He knew everything you’d struggle with. He knew the secrets, the thoughts, the shame… And He still chose the cross. That’s love you can’t outrun. That’s grace you can’t out-sin. That’s freedom you don’t have to earn. So when the old voices come… When the pain rises up again… When the devil whispers, “You’ll never change…” — You look him in the face and say: “That’s not who I am anymore. That died on a cross. I’ve been raised with Christ.” And then leave it there. Don’t go back to pick it up. Don’t dig up what God buried. Don’t believe the lie that you’re not forgiven. Because the truth is, you are. Share this post with someone you love — you never know who’s quietly battling their past. You never know who needs to hear that they are truly forgiven. 💬 If this hit home for you, let me know in the comments or message me directly. 📲 Follow me on TikTok | Instagram | YouTube 👕 Grab a reminder to wear on your chest: My Clothing Brand
